Writer holding a dog in a cafe

Hi, I'm Desiree, a UX content designer in San Francisco

I love crafting online experiences that delight, educate, and inspire.

Whether I’m cleaning up data taxonomy, simplifying complex flows, or adding a touch of personality to microcopy, I make digital spaces feel more intuitive and human.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me out walking my dog, getting lost in a good book, creating something colorful, or on the hunt for the perfect dirty chai latte.

I'd rather create great products than sell them

My journey into content design was inspired by over a decade working in sales, where I collaborated with customers to help meet their goals. I learned how to communicate with diverse audiences through consistent, clear, and empathetic interactions.

Content design was a natural next step.

Like sales, it’s about putting yourself in the user’s shoes. Good content design guides users through complex systems at a comfortable yet effective pace, ensuring clarity while maintaining brand voice. It’s about making sure customers reach the finish line, whether that’s completing a transaction, publishing an ad, or unlocking banking benefits.

Content design at The Infatuation (2023-current)

With over a decade of experience in local discovery, I was thrilled to join The Infatuation, a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase, to help people in 40+ cities find their next great meal.

As the first and only content design hire, I focused on three major initiatives:

  • Bridging Chase’s financial products and rewards with The Infatuation’s content in a fun, approachable way for both Chase and non-Chase users.

  • Cleaning up data taxonomy and information architecture for neighborhoods, cuisines, dishes, venues, and “perfect for” situations—paving the way for AI-driven and programmatic personalization.

  • Embedding accessibility, inclusion, and belonging into our naming guidelines, designs, and tagging operations.

Content design at Nextdoor (2019-2023)

Leveraging my background in local ad sales, I became the first UX content designer for all Nextdoor For Business products in 2019. The screens I was responsible for accounted for a third of Nextdoor’s revenue.

I led the UX content design for every revenue-generating product, including:

  • Overhauling onboarding for local businesses setting up their own pages, including upgrades for Neighborhood Sponsorships.

  • Creating payment flows for Nextdoor Ads (for professional marketers) and Ads Lite (for local businesses).

  • Launching a dual B2B + B2C product called Hire A Pro, connecting local home-improvement businesses with neighbors who needed work done.

My work on the Halloween Treat Map, which assisted families in trick-or-treating safely during the pandemic lockdown, helped Nextdoor win a Platinum MUSE Award for creativity.

SF Date Night (2017-2000)

In 2017, I co-founded SF Date Night with my friend Christina Richards to help people discover fun, unique local experiences. Our goal was to capture the city’s distinct personality and curate it into engaging, accessible date ideas.

Through editorial content, email campaigns, sponsored partnerships, and TV segments on the city’s ABC affiliate, we built a thriving platform while refining our creative, technical, and monetization skills.

Sadly, the pandemic wiped out much of SF’s local scene, forcing us to sunset SF Date Night. It remains one of my proudest ventures.

Let’s create something remarkable together

I love rooting for the underdog and dreaming up new ways to help people achieve their goals.

In my next role, I’m looking to collaborate with a great team to build enriching, impactful experiences for our audience.
